First, try to rule out the Internet connection itself. Make sure that the phone cord goes from the wall into the modem first, and that the status light(s) on the modem are on and/or steady. Then plug your computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable (leave out the router entirely), and see if you get a connection.

If you don't, then your ISP is to blame.

If you do, then unplug your computer from the modem, and link the modem's Ethernet port to your router's WAN port (this is important). Once you have that in place (and you may see a WAN status light come on), plug your computer into one of the other Ethernet ports using another Ethernet cable and see if you can get a connection.

If you don't, then there is most likely a router setting to blame. Consult your manual on how to reset your router.

If you do, then your router is working fine, at least for wired connections. If your connection is wireless... well, a book could be written about solving that. Google "troubleshooting Belkin home WiFi router" for details.

I have no experience with AOL, so I can't help you there, but I do have extensive and infuriating experience with Belkin. My advice would be to get a new router from somebody that makes adequate electronics. Then make sure that your modem/internet connection is working correctly by connecting the modem directly to a computer and testing it. Assuming that works, try re-installing your router from scratch (but don't do anything until you are sure that you have all the information that you need handy - user name/passwords, etc). The sequence is: phone jack-[DSL converter if you have DSL]-phone cord-modem-cable-router [or computer]

it might help in case you informed us who your ISP is. in case you have a modem/router blend, then you definitely do no longer want the different modem.. in case you have DSL, be constructive to set the router's connection form to PPPoE. in case you have Cable/FIOS, ensure which you do set its connection form to DHCP.
