I have red lady bugs EVERYWHERE! We're overrun with them! We live up north of the United States.

I live in Utah, and there's a period of a couple of months during the summer when we have a lot of ladybugs. I, too, have noticed that they are all brown now, instead of the red they used to be when I was a kid (I was born in '68). I think I saw exactly one red one this year, and probably 50 of the brownish ones. My mother and I actually talked about the red one this year because neither of us have seen a red one since we moved into the house we currently live in seven years ago.
I tried to ask my friends about it, and only my very best friend has even paid attention. She has a lot of bushes around her house, and her father, who lives next door, has a huge veggie garden, and she said that she sees a red one for every 2-3 brown ones. Our completely uneducated guess about it was that it has something to do with the greenery and stuff by her house. We have big trees at my house, but not a lot of cover down low or by the ground, which is where we usually find them. We were thinking the color change has something to do with a lot of exposure to sunlight, but that's just the theory of two women who know absolutely nothing about insects.
I hope you get a really good factual answer, as I am curious about it, too.

I didn't know that there were such things as brown ladybugs.
In Nebraska (that's where I live) there are red ladybugs all over the place. I was at a state park a couple years ago and it must have been a ladybug migration because you couldn't walk two steps without one landing on you.
They were all over the trees, the car... The bathroom...
Now-a-days I don't see as many, but they're still around. At least in Nebraska.

When I lived in the southern states of Australia we had Red and Orange Ladybugs.
Now I live in the Northern States and they are Orange. We have been having a warm and wet Spring and we have had large outbreaks of different bugs (moths one week, then little tiny wasps, then butterflies). At the moment there are lots of lovely ladybugs - all Orange.

In Southern California, in the San Bernardino County mountains, lady bugs breed and hybernate - mostly red, some red spotted, but I don't think I've ever seen a brown one. But in one spot we frequent, there are literally thousands of them in the dead wood by the stream.
Down here in the valley, I rarely see a ladybug at all, unless I'm in our park's rose garden in the middle of summer.

Yes, one has taken up residence here in the spare room in the ceiling fan. First, time I saw him was about 2 hours ago. I think he is looking for a safe and warm place to live till spring. Can't say I blame him--or is it her?? We live in a small town and see them a lot. Maybe that is the difference, I don't know. I don't like the brown washed out ones--they bite! Sometimes, in the spring till fall, they hang around the back door in hundreds. Don't open your mouth because they swarm you and all try to get in at the same time. lol : } I forgot to tell you we live in Ontario, Canada--southern part--near Hamilton.

woman bugs which you're conversing approximately are actually not your interior of reach pink woman trojan horse is it? those are asian imported beattle (greater orange than pink) to feed turkeys that escaped and unfold around. They do chew, they stink and there is little which you're able to do to end them. BTW they destroy the inhabitants of the interior of reach (marvelous) woman bugs. they have not any organic enamies right here in united statesa.. it somewhat is beneficial to attempt and use vacuum cleanser to shrink the quantity, you're able to desire to attempt some sprays besides, yet be careful, I had a affected person the day gone by that accedently breathed interior the spray and now has a foul cough.

Tons and tons here in CT. We had a warm spell not too long ago, maybe a month ago and ladybugs hatched everywhere. In fact in a home in Guilford they had to send the exterminators in there to take care of them :(
