it is 22 dollars off, to figure it out just think of 20% as two 10%'s, and to figure out ten percentages, you just move the decimal once, so that would be 11 plus 11 is 22, then to figure the amount you would pay, it would be 88 dollars. 110 minus 22

A real simple way to determine what 20% is of any value is to just double the value and move left one decimal place. Your example: 2x$110=$220 moving the decimal to the left one place gives you $22 so you will pay $88 for the item.
