If you have a big enough home, do it there. SInce its cold it would hard to have outside, so yo u need a big home if you have a big family. If not use a church, communtiy center something. I don't see the point in renting a resturant or anything. At the 1st b day they usually get tired and fussy anyway, so too much will only make it worse. My son fell asleep in his cake, and my daughter nearly fell asleep to us singing happy birthday. And i only did a simple party at church with a few friends and family.

Depends on the time of year his birthday falls on. My oldest son's b-day is in March, so it is still sort of cold out. Where I live there are not to many options for children's birthday's. My youngest's b-day is in August, so it is still warm and we can do the outside party thing. A child's 1st birthday is more for the parents, and family then the actual child. Whatever you decide to do, make it fun for him. Make it a special day for him. Don't concern yourself to much with trying to make it perfect, just make it fun....

people who spend a fortune on a 1 year old kids birthday party are just stupid!!! there is no need to be flashy after all the more you do the more they will expect and they will become ungrateful, spoiled brats!!!! so keep your kids sweet and just immediate family that are close by, at a family members house cake, ice cream and presents is more than enough for a 1 year old!!! take lots of pictures and remember family makes this special not the presents or entertainment to impress others that you can spend money on foolishness!!! good luck!

small party in your home or at grandmas with family thats limited to about 2 hours or less. One year olds get overstimulated easily at parties especially when the focus is on them so keep it simple- cake, ice cream and a couple presents. Take some momento pictures but don't make a big deal over it. Remember the one year milestone is more exciting for you than them:)
happy birthday to your little one
