Do you believe everything Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson tell you and what they tell the rest of the country? They claim to speak for the whole black community, but in your opinion do you agree with everything they say and do they speak for you as an individual?

If you have common sense, even YOU can listen to what they say and come to a logical conclusion.

Do even YOU believe everything that Bush or Cheney says and what they tell the rest of the country? They claim to speak on behalf of the whole country but really, who are they truly speaking on behalf of? In your opinion do you agree with everything THEY (Bush and Cheney) say and do they speak for you as in individual?

Turn it around, dolt.

Blah..

If I had a dollar for every time I heard the exact phrase...

"Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson"

mentioned when trying to discuss race relations, I'd be a millionaire. People love to say that phrase to denote something negative about the black community.

I'll tell you this. Sharpton and Jackson do not speak for the entirety of the black community. No one speaks for the entirety of the black community just as no one speaks for the entirety of the white community or the Latino community or the Asian community. There is not one person alive who can be the spokesperson for an entire race of people.

Most black people that I know do not agree with what the two of these people say very often. And we do get tired of hearing that we agree with everything they say because that is the furthest thing from the truth.

Hope I helped.

Not at all. Back in the day, they were someone for the Black community to look up to but now they've become an embarrasment -- Al Sharpton, especially.

there was no vote held to determine who speaks on behalf of afro americans. they appointed themselves.

bush was voted in by americans (most of whom are white). do you believe everything bush tells you? he claims to speak on behalf of americans. so do all americans support the war? do all americans believe the the 'war on terror' was a success?

for all the white christian evangalists who speak on behalf of all christians about hating gays and not having sex before marriage--would you say that all christians therefore hate gays and are virgins until marriage?

the answer is no. just because someone gets up and says they speak on behalf of a group it doesn't mean they really do. and the same applies to blacks.

i speak for myself--i don't let people speak for me. i read and make my own opinions. i am not a sheep.

what jesse and al say is their opinion, and they are entitled to their own opinions because it is a free country. just like bush is free to say what he damn well pleases, so is al. but it doesn't mean he speaks for me or that i am simple minded enough to just believe what he says because we're both black.
