I can't believe this question is still around and people argue about it. Star Wars totally beats Star Trek. Star Wars has so many hidden meanings in it that has to do with so many aspects of life. If people actually watch interviews with George Lucas then they can see past the awesome light saber duals and X-wing fight scenes to see the deeper messages.
Star Trek is just a bunch of dudes in tights with the same things happening every episode. Star Wars has been seen by so many more people then Star Trek. Star Wars has more recognizable characters such as Darth Vader who is recognized by people who havent even seen the movies.
And the music from Star Wars is just amazing. With a composer like John Williams the music for the movie will go down in history.
Star Trek has been run into the ground. Star Wars has stopped for now and George Lucas isnt milking it for everything its worth till nothings left. Star trek has just been overplayed.
You all can argue and have your opinions but in the end Star Wars has affected the world A LOT more then Star Trek, and when the movie Fan Boys comes out (2008) you will all be able to see how much better Star Wars is!

The Star Wars movies are more exciting. Star Trek has its place too though. I like them both. As someone said before, two totally different shows. I also like the original Battle Star Galactica movie. The new series is good, but takes itself too seriously. The original series was all about the fights. Very entertaining.

As much as people compare them, they really aren't anything alike. That being said I enjoyed Star Wars much more as far as plot goes (its not really sci fi, more like a Greek tragedy in space) but I also thought Star Trek was an intelligent and thought-provoking show. The special effects were very amazing for its time, and the plots remain amazing to this day.
