Versus the others, who only say what they think Repubs want to hear?

That simply depends on where you are on the spectrum. For moderate Republicans Rudy may seem like a relief.

This isn't a stellar Republican lineup, it reminds me of their '96 field and the Dems in '04.

I have a theory that when a party is in disarray or feels it is will loose then the heavy hitters hold back and the second string ends up in the race.

I'd say only Paul, he doesn't make empty promises and offers real clarity on important issues facing our country..

I've done my research on Huckabee, he only appears "genuine" he has a track record of tax hikes, amnesty for illegal immigrants and in a prior debate he suggested he would enter war with Iran without the consent of Congress. He isn't much different then Romney or Giuliani when it comes down to the issues..

Short answer, yes.

Honestly I think most candidates believe that they can do something to better America. The problem is that many of them just don't understand that the founding fathers knew what they were doing when they wrote the constitution. Most if not all of the problems that we face today can be traced back to some poltician's good intentions.

No, I don't think that any of the people who appear on the stage at Republican debates are somehow misplaced. As far as I am concerned, anybody with an "R" behind their name on a ballot is a "genuine" Republican. McCain, Thompson, Hunter, and Tancredo all have conservative voting records.

Considering Huckabee has already dropped out, I'd have to say 'no.'

i would say yes.

rudy, lib
romney, flip flopper so who knows
thompson i would say is somewhat conservative, but is a warmonger and this historically is not the GOP position.
mccain is a lib who is pro illegal immigration.

hunter and tancredo are conservative. i really like tancredo except for his pro war position.

They are the only two true conservatives, but they have about as much of a chance of winning as I do at winning the lottery, and I don't even play the lottery.

Huckabee is a genuine conservative. Paul is genuinely insane.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian. He should run under that ticket.
