You can't just divide by u like you did.

6x^2u -u
= u(6x^2u -u)/u
= u(6x^2 -1)
= (p+q^2)(6x^2 -1)

It's 6x^2u - 1*u = (6x^2-1)u = (6x^2-1)(p+q^2).
