My cousin marred a 17 year old a few weeks ago and he died yesterday in a car accident. She is refusing too let us burie him or even attend his funeral, they have only known eachother about a month. Do we have any rights? Do we have to go to court to be able to bury him?

Certainly this young man had a family somewhere. Track them down and track them down now.

Get an attorney. If you can't afford one, try Legal Aid. Call a mortuary and ask them. They've been helpful to me in difficult times.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope this is resolved, quickly.

why is she doing this..? did she do something to the car.. sorry i watch way to much TV.. what type of wreck was it.. better get a hold of his parents .. next of kin.. and if your really worried.. let the cops investigate..get a lawyer now.. call his insurance company if you know who it is.. she may have done nothing at all.. but if she is doing this.. all red flag are raised..her husband just died.. and they have only been married 2 weeks..the last thing i would be concerned about is who is coming to the funeral unless it is all his ex gf.. and i would take all the help i could get in arranging the burial.. i would be to hurt to even pick out the coffin..

This is really weird.....she may be in a state of shock over his death and not able to make rational decisions at this point. Let her know how important it is for ya'll to get closure with his life/death and maybe see if you can help her. This expression of genuine concern may be just the ice breaker she wants and needs. I'm guessing that, at 17, she probably does not have much of a support system. She is still a child, married or not. Good luck

She is the legal next of kin, and has the power to make the decisions about his final arrangements, if wouldn't matter if they had been married only a day, she would still be in charge.
Maybe you can talk to her parents and they can convince her?

The wife is considered next of kin. I'd not cause more stress to the situation; let her bury her husband. It's her who's acting the idiot, not you.
