I'm not sure what is meant by "midsegment". Is it the line segment joining the midpoint of BC and the midpoint of AD?

If so, the coordinates of the midpoint of BC are ((0+8)/2, (4+8)/2) = (4, 6); the coordinates of the midpoint of AD are ((-2+4)/2, (-2-4)/2) = (1, -3)

Slope of this segment is (6-(-3))/(4-1) = 9/3 = 3
