my baby is due jan 2. but anytime after 37 weeks is full-term. that is what my doctor told me. anyways if he comes at 37 weeks or 38 weeks that will be before christmas. should we get him some presents or forget it? i'm not really sure. i know he won't be able to open anything or care at all. he will probably just sleep.lol. also what about next year? i like to think in advance and buy presents for the following christmas all throughout the year. what type of toys, ect. does your 1 year old like? also what would you get for an 18 month old? i've looked at lots of toys and it seems that alot of them are pretty much the same thing. pretty boring. I'm looking for something that is a little different but not too expensive. plus something to use for the whole year until the next christmas if not longer. something they will really enjoy. thanks.

Of course you should get him something!!! He's your baby! get something that you and daddy can use with the baby..even if he doesn't come before Christmas, your baby is still with you, and he will feel the excitement!!! Plus its fun for you!!! And for an 18 month..books. We started reading to my niece when she about 5 months and now she's 2 and love love books!!! Bath toy's are always fun...They have really cool pens and paints that won't stain the walls, that you can play with in the bath tub!! Good luck

Relax and don't worry too much. Babies love the simple boring toys that adults don't care for. Rattles and toys that make noise are the big winners for newborns. The first few weeks, your baby won't care about toys anyways. Enjoy Christmas and remember that other people will get your baby a lot of gifts anyways once he arrives.

So we are no longer tempeted to experience (even notwithstanding i recognize lots of the failings i'm getting) there are some issues i'm getting given which my father and mother recognize i ought to like what I absolutely have not requested for.

Why don't you get a present for yourself and the baby? A super-nice sling/carrier/mei tai, say.

Trust me, a newborn will appreciate being carried as much as possible far, far more than any toy. A sling (etc) that fits Daddy would also be a swell present for a small baby.

Any presents you get for a very young baby are really just for you. He can't open them and doesn't care at all. It's more fun for the parents to get the presents. I didn't get ym daughter a Christmas present when she was 6 months old, but last Christmas at at 18 mos I got her one, just for the video and picture of her opening it.
