Watching BBC world news from the states I have heard references to Gordon Brown being anti america and relating it to George Bush. Does this lead UK citizens to lump Bush with the citizens of the US? Do the nice folks in our motherland understand our 2 party system and that we didn't all vote for Bush and some of us think he is an imbecile?

Sometimes I wonder because they have a monarch and don't regularly vote that perhaps their country is less divided than our United States. I know the value of our democratic system but I do get tired of people hating each other over their political views.

That is why the rest of the world hates us. Our president is the predominant reason.

Yeah people do know that not all of us voted for him, but enough of us did that he was re-elected. That's what i think is the issue with the way the world views our country.

As well they should - he was freely elected twice to serve as president.
I'm really getting sick of people who think that the European and world opinion of us is more important than what we think of ourselves. I'm damned proud that we have a leader with the intestinal fortitude to confront a group of psychotic murderers while most of the world sits on the side lines and watches as the Islamic radicals indiscriminately slaughter more innocent victims. Hell, the French were still debating whether or not Hitler was a threat when their answer came marching into Paris wearing Swastika arm bands. And still they choose to essentially ignore this new ideology of hatred and world domination.
The message is clear - any one with dreams of flying airplanes into skyscrapers had better pick a country other than the United States - because if you don't, there will be serious consequences. Period.

As does the rest of the world - isn't it great. Kinda like having a really screwed up older brother and following him through high school. All the teachers hate you because he gave them so much crap.

i think if he is anti American he doesn't need to hate Americans, he could just dislike the countries foreign polices and human rights record as most other countries do.
