Oh gosh I do that too.

One day I had watched the Croc Hunter and started talking with an Australian accent and happened to be dressed the part for working on my ranch and someone called me Outback Bob and it stuck. I've never even been to Australia.

I went to New York City for a week and me and my friends actually picked up that new yorker accent and couldn't get rid of it for like two weeks afterwards. But from friends, yeah I pick up words my ex boyfriend always said "that's my steeze" and now i say it.

I have the opposite of that as I'm English but live in the US. A lot of people that I spend time with end up mimicking my accent or use my 'slang' words.

As an ESL teacher, I sometimes have to change the way I speak English to my students because they don't understand my slang or idiom use. So sometimes I find myself using their expressions or body language in their language. Weird!
