I plan on avoiding the large chain stores. It's not like they will really miss the buisness that I would have given them. Instead, I am going to some of the smaller stores and giving the economy a boost. It may be a dollar more per item, but I won't be buying that much this year.
Going to chain stores only increases their profit margins and risks putting the little guys out of business. It is the little guys that need the support to get on their feet.

If I had any money (I'm laid off), it would STILL be Walmart or MAKE something. Christmas music playing the day after Halloween is sad. The spirit of the holiday is GONE anymore. It's soooooo sad. ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY SON TO COME HOME (he's in the service) -- and it's going to happen :)
The holidays this year is STRICTLY going to be about family and LOVE -- and I have 2 grandbabies (I've been laid off for 11 weeks now)

None at all, since I am an atheist, and my gal Miyuki is from Japan and knows little about Xmas. When i visited my kid sister a few years ago, i bought her kids some DVD's at various stores. For Miyuki's birthday, I took her to Amir Mozifarrian Jewelers and bought her a $15,700 Piaget watch. She is thrilled by such a beautiful and costly gift.
