520 is long distance. In AZ the area codes in the Phoenix are 480, 602 and 623. Those are the numbers you can call with no charges. 520 and 928 are the other area codes in AZ and those would be long distance for you. If I were you I'd get a cell phone with free long distance.

I believe it is. The 520 area code is used for Casa Grande and Tucson. I know that it is a long distance call from Phoenix Metro to Tucson so I would imagine the same for Casa Grande. From the Phoenix Metro, I believe the local calls would be 623, 602, and 480 area codes. Intrastate long distance calls from the Phoenix Metro would be calls to 928 and 520 area codes.

Of course, if you go to VoIP (Voice over IP--aka the Internet) it would be a single flat fee, I believe.

I lived in Phoenix and I know there are several area codes there. It is not a long distance call from any of those area codes to another. In telecommunications terminology, they are in the same LATA (Local area telephone access).
Your phone book is a good place to find this information in print located somewhere in the early pages. Of course you can call your service provider and get more specific answers to this question.
