On 11/6 my hcg was 277 on 11/8 it was 744 today I had some bright red bleeding and my hcg level was 400. The dr. thinks it is a) early pregnancy b) possible ectopic or c) miscarriage. BUT is waiting until Friday to do another test. She claims that it may be late implantation and I shouldn't worry just yet. Has anyone ever had this happen?

It does seem as though you might be losing the pregnancy. Although never say never... When this was happening to me, someone (on Yahoo!Answers) recommended the site

I'm sorry but if your level dropped then you are miscarrying. Also the bright red bleeding is a sign of miscarriage.
I went thru the same thing a few years ago. The best thing you can do is take it easy and let nature take it's course. When your Dr gives you the ok you can TTC again.
Most likely there was something wrong with the baby, but it shouldn't effect your next pregnancy.

Another possibility is loss of a twin.
I'm a surviving twin. my mum lost my twin at 14wks. She went to the football club for lunch and walking from the car she had a large blood loss. She got to her OB who advised her she had lost the baby.
The nurse came in to "clean her up" and detected my heartbeat. Mum went on to carry me to term and I'm a healthy mum of 3 myself now.
You don't say at what stage those readings were (how far along in pregnancy you were). obviously it's early otherwise they would be doing ultrasounds. Don't give up hope!!!!!

If the level is dropping it means that the fertilized egg is detaching and you are miscarrying. Usually it's due to a chromosomal abnormality. I'm so sorry!!

the best thing to do is let the doctor tell you what is going on. i know waiting until Fri. is a very long time when wanting answers. still, it's better to let your doctor tell you for certain what's going on. prayers to you.
