Step-dad was in Korea. A cousin is in Marines, I think he's about ready to retire and he's only 42.
Another cousin is in the Army right now and i am going to try to talk my 19 year old nephew into going into the service. (He's a computer maniac and they could use those kinds of brains!)
My brother was in Coast Guard for about 4 years.
Likewise, I am very thankful for the Veterans, past and present, who served out country proudly. The service can totally change your life and I highly recommend to the youth, if you're not sure what you want to do with your life, consider joining. Not EVERYONE goes off to fight, in case you're worried about that. You figure that out BEFORE you enlist.
RED FRIDAY - as a show of support, we have been asking everyone to wear RED on Fridays. I LOVE seeing people wearing RED on Fridays. If you can, please do. And please pass it on to all you know.

I was in the Seabees during the first Gulf War. Two uncles faught in Vietnam. My Grandfather was in the Army during WWII, as well as 4 of my Uncles. Two served in the Pacific theatre and two in Europe. I had a Great-Great Grandfather who fought in WWI. I had a distant grandfather die fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War. Another relative fought against Mexico in the war for Texas Independence. And before that, his father was one of the original Texas Rangers, commissioned to fight the Comanche Indians in 1803.

My grandpa, God rest his soul, fought in WWII, along with his brother who is still alive but has Alzheimer's.
My cousin and brother-in-law are both in the Navy, and my brother is in the Army. He got back from Iraq about a month ago. He had to miss the birth of his son, but we're glad he's home safely.
