Under the GOP over the last 12 years--and this year, by blocking action with Bush's help--has engineered a tax structure in which the wealthiest 10 % pay less than 20% of their income in taxes--while covertly raising taxes on the middle class so that the rest of us now pay an average of over 30%.

This is jsut more of the same. ONe more example of the reality: the Republicans's actions don't match their words. They cater to a few wealthy people and to corporate interests they favor. And--of course--to the right-wing religious cults. The rest of us are jsut cattle to be milked or slaughtered in wars, as far as they are concerned.

I believe it is because your republicans would ultimately like to do away with your middle class - and have most on the same playing field - poor. Easier to govern. BIg business can make plenty in the global economy.

Why do I think this? They are sending your jobs out to Bangalore and China or filling the lower paying ones with illegal immigrants, they are raising your taxes, they wish to gut all of the New Deal programs meant to help you, they would rather you had no insurance than have the elite chip in their fair share of tax, they have started an unwinnable war that will add hugely to your tax bill...

Why do you stand for it, is the question.

If the AMT problem is fixed, the deficit will be even larger and show the ignorance of the Republican tax plan to always lower taxes. They want the poor and middle class to pay for their raping of the American dream by taking and taking from those who work honestly and pay their part. The rich don't care about you, they care about keeping you subservient and obedient.

i'm not political by any means, but with so many jobs gone, not too many people can pay into the system like the amount the government is used to having, they've had a pay cut, but unlike the middle classes who are feeling the squeeze, the government will take more from those who still have an income to make up the defecit, never mind where the middle classes will get any extra money from, the rich can avoid tax in may ways and the poor dont have any either, if you was the government where would you get the cash from?

Personally I believe the reason they voted it down was because of all the additional bills that were attached to the bill.

Politicians can't pass a bill on it's merits, but instead add billions of dollars of pork onto the bills, in hope of it passing.

So if you want to assign blame, blame it on the rules that allow them to add supplementary bills to the main bill.

The Republicans aren't raising taxes. I suspect you've been chewing on Chinese toys.

The largest tax base and the most complacent. An ongoing collapse of the working class, bigger gap between the haves and the havenots. Greed. The rich get richer. Go figure.
