The "autoride' means that the suspension automatically adjusts to road conditions , speed, etc. There is an air pump that feeds a constant supply of air to the struts/shocks that should maintain the proper ride hight. unless someone has altered this system you should not have to add air manually. if the pump broke some one may have bypassed it and made it a manual system. also, the rubber boot on the shocks/struts or one of the airlines could have a hole in it which would cause it to ride low. If you end up needing parts for it, let me know. I am an AC Delco dealer and also can get the air ride struts or shocks for a lot cheaper than most places.

in the olden days there was a little valve, usually sticking out of the bottom of the bumper, like a tire valve, and a person had to go to the air hose at the gas station and fill it manually. Newer cars have the compressor built in, and you could see it change height if suddenly loaded a bunch of stuff, like 3 football tackelers getting in the back seat. "autoride" suggests it should have a compressor and fill automatically. There is a switch to disable the function if need be, In cars it was sometimes in the trunk, look in back in the little covered compartments, and also check the fuses.
If it was the people who sold you the truck who said to add air yourself, I might guess they were trying to hustle her out the door without answering too many questions. They probably knew it was bad, and maybe they are just ignoring it or maybe instead of fixing it, they might have put an air valve on it so they could fill it manually

abolutely likely. being a pre-owened vehicle teens/young adults like to lower the ride so just take it in and ask for a free consult on the issue and what it will cost 2 repair it. call b 4 u go as fuel is getting so expensive and not all repair shops give free eval's. that was done to the tahoe we had and we took it to our company prefered maintenance provider and it cost $20.00
