I just bought a Linksys router and I am going to hook it up to three computers. One is a dell with windows xp, 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 processor, 512 meg memory and an 80 Gig hd. The other two i'm not sure will work because they are older. One is a Gateway with windows xp, 300Mhz Pentium 2 Processor, 384 megs of memory and a 9 Gig hd. The last is a dell with windows 98, Pentium 3 processor, 256 megs of memory, and a 10 gig hd.

I am wondering if it is possible to network these all with the Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I would perfer that only people who have experience in networking answer this question. Any help would be great.

Yes they will all work.. USE WIRE! If you mean wireless you will need external wireless adapters particularly on the 98 box. SO USE ETHERNET it will work just fine on all of them. Since I think all of these are desktops that should be easy. I am sure all of them will have ethernet adapters all ready installed. If not just get an inexpensive NIC *network adapter card* and your in business.

Just floow the directions and plug them all in via ethernet it will be a stronger connection. If you have to use wirless then make sure you find a wireless adapter that works for 98' sometimes they do not. I have new and old computers on my network though and they all work fine, even trhe wireless one. If you have a problem doing it then please email me or contact the linksys website. i most likely will be able to help with your problem i have the same router and have had a few issues trying to get all pc's to work but they all do now. Good Luck!!!
