Why would a presidential candidate said to have lowered taxes support this irrational tax?

The Commuter Tax- a tax that taxes to death the commuters to NYC (not the residents) for their ability to use the city's services- such as ambulances, police force, and firefighters. It is able to easily rake in an additional $200 million into the city annually.
How often do commuters to another state use the state's firefighters, ambulances, or police force? PRACTICALLY NEVER! And if you haven't guessed yet, look who supports the tax.

You really can't justify this.

But once they arrive in NYC, they are almost at their location. The commuter tax will not protect them until they are in NYC.

How often does a resident of the city actually use firefighters, ambulances, or police force? PRACTICALLY NEVER! If you think about it carefully you will realize that these services are like insurance, most people do not actually collect what they pay for a policy, but they still buy it to reduce the risk catastrophic loss.

By this "logic' they seem to be saying that people who commute into NYC use city services, but people from the city who travel out side of NYC never use the services of other municipalities. Maybe everyone else should charge arrogant New York city residents who venture outside of city limits with a usage tax.

I'm happy I don't think like you. If I did, I might figure that I was entitled to all the money I've spent in taxes for firefighters, cops and ambulances, yet I have never used either service.

Just like a Republican. They want the services but don't want to pay for them. If people from out of state use the roads at all, then they are using the services of that state. In some areas it's not that common and in others there is a lot of business between the states.

i'm no longer a huge fan of the honest Tax. yet that would not matter. I in basic terms intend to make some factors: a million. the reason we've the tax plan we've is with the help of the fact the interests that elect our governments prefer it that way. 2. have you ever been around long sufficient to word that issues that politicians promise earlier elections are in no way pronounced after elections? 3.
