The Commuter Tax- a tax that taxes to death the commuters to NYC (not the residents) for their ability to use the city's services- such as ambulances, police force, and firefighters. It is able to easily rake in an additional $200 million into the city annually.
How often do commuters to another state use the state's firefighters, ambulances, or police force? PRACTICALLY NEVER! And if you haven't guessed yet, look who supports the tax.

Commuters to NYC take mass transit. So, what vehicular accident???
How many life threatening accidents occur at a white collar job even in a yearly basis?
You really can't justify this.

But once they arrive in NYC, they are almost at their location. The commuter tax will not protect them until they are in NYC.

"How often do commuters to another state use the state's firefighters, ambulances, or police force? PRACTICALLY NEVER! " Except when they have an vehicle accident (there are several everyday in large cities) or have an ambulance called while at work as two examples.
"Commuters to NYC take mass transit. So, what vehicular accident???" - ALL OF THEM? Funny the bridges from NJ are awful full. Who are those people?

How often does a resident of the city actually use firefighters, ambulances, or police force? PRACTICALLY NEVER! If you think about it carefully you will realize that these services are like insurance, most people do not actually collect what they pay for a policy, but they still buy it to reduce the risk catastrophic loss.

By this "logic' they seem to be saying that people who commute into NYC use city services, but people from the city who travel out side of NYC never use the services of other municipalities. Maybe everyone else should charge arrogant New York city residents who venture outside of city limits with a usage tax.

So those people would be able to work in the city if NYC didn't have cops? I think not.
I'm happy I don't think like you. If I did, I might figure that I was entitled to all the money I've spent in taxes for firefighters, cops and ambulances, yet I have never used either service.

Just like a Republican. They want the services but don't want to pay for them. If people from out of state use the roads at all, then they are using the services of that state. In some areas it's not that common and in others there is a lot of business between the states.

i'm no longer a huge fan of the honest Tax. yet that would not matter. I in basic terms intend to make some factors: a million. the reason we've the tax plan we've is with the help of the fact the interests that elect our governments prefer it that way. 2. have you ever been around long sufficient to word that issues that politicians promise earlier elections are in no way pronounced after elections? 3. Ronald Reagan's tax plan began out as a 'flat tax', a huge simplification software, and ended up with the tax code being approximately 3x extra complicated than it become earlier. It began out as 'tax cuts around the board' yet ended up with 80% of human beings paying extra beneficial than they did earlier. Reagan additionally promised to do away with loopholes, and did do away with some, yet there are extra now than earlier he began. If Reagan could no longer do it, what makes you think of Thompson can?

Richard R does not get it. We already pay Federal, State and local taxes. The liberals don't understand how government agencies gouge the taxpayer!

Yes, use your head.
Even the Republicans in NYC, are actually liberal socialist/communists who love to raise taxes.
And Democrats love Tax Increases on anyone, and everyone.
