What does my teacher mean by social? Answer quick plz.

The industrial revolution was dependent on fossil fuels. It increased the income and living standards to a level that had never been achieved before in history, and the use of fossils fuels maintains your life style today. Imagine your life without your car, electricity, food aways available at you supermarket etc.

I don't know what he means, sounds like a left wing liberal trying to brainwash his students into thinking technology, business and automobiles are bad.
