An old queen I use to rent a Room off of in college. His name was Herk Harpalas, and was as gay and open as the day is long. He said that the most important thing in life is to Just be yourself, no matter what anybody says, no matter what anybody thinks. He said life is too short for all the games, and you need to live it to the fullest!!! He passed away a couple of years back, and I really miss him. But I will always remember these, and many other, words of wisdom he had. I try to live by them each and every day!!! :@)

My parents.

They were both widowed with 3 kids each. They met, fell in love, married, had me (number 7). They both worked very long hours for many years to raise all seven of us. We were never hungry, cold, withouth clothes (lots of hand-me-downs) or without lots and lots of love. We were taught the value o hard work, family, friends, and looking out for eash other. We are all gainfully employed, happy, successful in our own rights, none have ever been in Jail, none have EVER done any type of illicit drugs (and we grew up in the 70s and 80s - everyone smoke pot..... except us.).

Thank you Mom and Dad..... you done good.

I guess now that I think about it, I've never really had a role model. Kinda sad, eh? I suppose while growing up I looked up to fictional characters in books I read but real live people, nope.

lol @ Jughead, that's cool!

My Step Father. He passed away 9 years ago, but he left behind 7 great children (5 of his own, and 2 step sons). He taught me to be myself, never take anyone for granted, and he taught me to be a great Father myself. I miss him, but I know he would be proud of the man I am today. I wish he could have been around to see me as a proud gay adult, raising my daughter, and the success I have created in my career...

I look up to my best friend...but I think she looks up to me too.
Still, she's a role model.
So is, uh, the Buddha.

And Freddie Mercury.

Oh, and Princess Di.

And Mahatma Gandhi.

AND my mom.

I don't have any actual real people as role models as of yet.

But in the fictional world, I guess it would be Jughead Jones (Archie Comics).

Paris Holton is my role model. If she can make it by doing nothing, I want to do that too.
