Follow the cable that goes to ground/motor/frame/etc, that the neg. The pos goes to the starter or solenoid. Or the pos is red, the neg is black; but if someone changed one, they might not be the right color.

I'm no expert but usually you'll get a red and a black cable, red's hot, or positive. Tracing one cable back to the frame will be the ground, or negative. Otherwise you should be able to Google the brand and year of car and get the particulars of how the battery sits.

All car batteries have a neg and a pos. Neg is - and pos is +. Neg. is black and Pos is Red. Just look on the top or side where ever you posts are.

Batteries always have a (-) or (+) sign on top or side of battery.
Red 4 positive (+)
Black 4 negative (-)...Connect the the positive first.

Red is positive... this goes to the starter
Black is negative.. it goes to a bolt on the body of the car
on the battery ... + is for positive - is for negative
Red needs to connect to positive. Good Luck!

I think the battery is marked + and- and so are the leads. Or Ask where you buy the new battery!

the + or red cable will be the one that goes to the starter, the - or black cable is the ground will connect either to the engine block or frame.

The red goes to the + and the - goes to the black. Often they are a different size so you can't install it the wrong way.
