I am 1 of the most passionate of simpson fans. I have watched every episode more than 10 times (part from the crappy new 1s) and i would like to know why the newer episodes are so bad? ever since the hypep up 300th episode the simpsons has gone down hill.

The colour has changed, the storylines are rubbish, there is a special guest in nearly every episode (although in the past there have been some realy good speical guest episodes with colournel homer and the mel gibson episodes being examples), homer has changed the way in which he says d'oh and when he does its at the wrong times. Now i may have answered my question but could someone explain to me why this has happened and could you give me you opinions on the matter?

I guess they have simply run out of material. I am in no rush to see the current episodes but i never miss the old reruns. The one where they go to brazil was best in my opinion. Homer was as offensive as he's ever been and bart wasnt gay in it.

also, the halloween episodes are still ok..

when a show has been running as long as the simpsons have, they need to make some subtle changes to keep things interesting, I guess they're just not making enough changes...

Yeah I agree, but what are we to do? True fans of things always get screwed over in the end because these greedy people in the corporations only care about money, not the fans. Now they are doing a half-*** job writing the episodes and they are actually selling the guest stars spot. If you have enough money you can now star in a crappy episode of the Simpsons just so these guys make some money. I have now stopped watching the Simpons all together even though it was one of my favorite shows, and started watching South Park and family guy.

I totally agree! I think the Simpson's are turning toward other means to attract audience and outbeat like the newer cartoons (Family Guy). But I still like rewatching reruns. =/

It's been down the toilet since the original writing staff (including Conan O'Brien, who began his career there) left after Season 5.

300 episodes all long running tv shows 'jump the shark' sometimes. What more can the show say that is new and fresh after so long on the boob tube?

The Simpsons have been on for almost two decades, so the material naturally becomes more stale.
