Somebody has to serve their country to protect the ideals and the citizens of this country for those who don't want to. Lots of those who didn't were drafted and still served proudly in the wars before the Middle east conflicts. I'm a Marine vet and I proudly volunteered and served for my country.

People who serve in the Armed forces do so because they are proud of their way of life/country,flag and wish to defend it against attack by hostile forces. They may also wish to help sort out the wrld's problems by force of arms or by peacekeeping. I would omagine that Veteran's Day is a chance to honour all those who have served in this way. Here in theUK we have Remembrance Day in November to do the same thing - Honour the Fallen. Hope this helps.
