America is build by Chistians, right? Now, who thought of invading another country and stealing people to make slaves out of them?
I want to know who was the Person who cooked this idea?
It is more then perverse in my eyes.
I am aware that Slavery has been around for Centuries.

The Queen of England, The Catholic Church and Spanish, French and Dutch governments have all sanctioned and financially backed the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. There was profit in it and each of these groups benefited from it. The Catholic Church and other missionary groups tried to say that they were doing God's job by delivering the Africans from heathenism. Glad to see you are taking a look at Roots. If you get a chance, check out the documentary series Eyes on the Prize I and II, which show the remnants and results of the American slave trade.

This is actually a very good question, one that deserves a serious answer. This was actually a hot topic of debate for many christians who owned slaves. As a result many justifications were made so that the practice of slavery could exist. One idea was that slave owners would often say that africans were sub-human and didn't deserve to be free, and by allowing them to partake in the christian faith (keep in mind most of the africans that came here, were muslim or believed in many gods), they were saving their souls and "civilizing" them. Some preachers would even misquote the bible and use certain phrases to justify the action of slavery, one such quote comes from the book of paul which says "slave obey they master", which really means to obey the lord, but slave masters took it to mean that the slave should obey them, and therefore they are inferior.
The first christian group to realize that africans were in fact human and the first to widely set their slaves free, were the amish and quakers, who later became involved in the underground railroad.

America was NOT built by Christians. It was built by millions of people from all over the world, all races, all ethnicities, all beliefs and no beliefs.

The slave trade had existed for hundreds of years...it reached it's peak in the settlement of the U.S...

Christians then, as now, speak with forked tongues....say one thing and practice another.

America was built by Africans..Benjamin Banneker (an African) designed Washington DC and Africans built it. Now as for your questions. Slavery was common back then, unfortuantly Africans and whites practiced slavery although whites introduced chattel slavery which was much worse than african slavery.
