I am sure there are. However, there is obviously something after death. Our bodies do not just disappear into nothingness. Even as our corpses decay, the particles that once were us disperse into the environment in some way over time. How many people and living things have died already? Is there not something left after they died? We do not exist in nothing now. So there is indeed something after death.

But I suspect this is not what you were looking for. You want some greater meaning. Is there some existence on some spiritual level for an individual who dies? The body is left behind, but the soul lives on? I don't know. I haven't died yet. I don't know if I can come back and tell you when I do. So maybe we will never know while we live. And if death is indeed the true end of our consciousness, then we will never know. Let's enjoy our time now and live and love just in case. Why worry about tomorrow and what we cannot know?

Find out what 'something' is. Are we something now? Will we no longer be something when the organism disintegrates? If you are something, what is it? If it is the material that makes up the body then it will only change into something else or be absorbed by something else (like worms and maggots). If it is the energy causing animation then that as well is absorbed as the universe is in a constant state of matter and energy and the only thing happening is transition from one state to another. If it is your 'self' then what ever mechanism that is keeping the memory of the 'self' you've built will be disintegrating with the rest of the bodily elements.

What is left? What were you before your birth? What are you in the deepest sleep and you have no awareness or memory of a body?

some people must think that way but in all truth what is life for just to be, i believe that life is the hallway to the world to come. if we take the right path we'll get to heaven if we take the wrong path we'll get lost and maybe never find heaven

I don't believe that is nothing after death because there is always something after something else.

Starmak's reality is the only reality we have. While it might be nice to think that we'll see our long dead relatives and live a life of eternal peace, without proof...its just wishful thinking...........

i'm leaning towards that thought..but at the same time I don't want to because it would mean life now is all we have and the realization that it's wasting away to nothing would be too much to bear.
