It is true that you don't need to wear any, but most high performace long underwear is synthetic - in that case you will be more comfortable wearing cotton boxer briefs under it. Cotton will absorb moisture and the synthetic long underwear will breathe the moisture away - this will make you more comfortable.

dude u dont need 2 wear any. even if the longjohns r cotton or like under-armour material all underwear will do is give u a nasty rash

a long underwear is an underwear Don't think you need anymore additional shorter underwear.

I would say none actually. It is perfectly okay to wear nothing under it. It you feel you want to I would say cotton boxer briefs for men and cotton boy style briefs for women
