I have to agree, this was a bigger rip off than the Brinks robbery.

I'm a Cardinals & baseball fan.
Tulowitzki was far and away the better all-around player.
>>Braun's defense was the worst in the league<< NO, that was the worst defensive performance by a MLB player in at least the last 60 years.

Tulowski was not robbed. I did not see him play much other than post season. Based on that, I saw a slick fielding ss with a strong arm, but slow release. He has great baseball instinct and natural talent. He looked particularly good in the series because the rest of the team played so poorly.
Braun had a better year and I would take him on my team over Tulowitski any day of the week. A player who can bat .325, hit 34 HRs, knock in 97 RBI, steal 15 bases and slug .634 in 113 games has had a remarkable year.

I think that this award was a joke. Anyone who saw Troy Tulo play in the postseason, which I had a chance to do at a Phillies playoff game, should agree that he is an unbelievable fielder. The fact that he put up great numbers at the plate coincided with the Rockies run to the World Series. How many double plays did the Rockies turn in big spots throughout their run, with Tulo involved in them all.

Note from the voting that almost half the writers agreed with you. That was a Gillette-close shave between Braun and Tulo. Someone had to come in second. Remember that it is just an opinion poll -- a highly regarded one -- and valid differences of opinion are better appreciated (even if disagreed with) than denounced.
When a player can hit like Braun, his team will figure out what to do with him defensively, or simply take what he can provide. (He probably cannot get worse until his 30s.)
Anyway... it's in the MVP voting where we can really get down to discussing if the writers are malicious or just stupid. :D

Remember the 1988 Rookies of the Year? Walt Weiss and Chris Sabo. Not exactly anyone's Hall of Fame candidates. It's just a popularity contest.

couldnt agree anymore, the one huge thing Braun had on Troy though was the fact he had as good power numbers in a shorter time. im confussed as to why he won but hey at least troy got be in the World Series, where was Mr Braun then?
defense is actually one the things the panels are told to vote on, if you watched tv or ever went to mlb.com they usually have the expectations on there

There's no perfect system for post season awards. Hey, the voting was close and either guy was deserving. I don't think "Tulo" will go in the crapper just because he finshed 2nd.

No question. The kid was robbed. The writers just are not good at anything but writing. And I don't like most of that, either.
