How can I improve my social skills. Until now i dont really talk to many people and im feeling a little nervous about it. I know that i should just be myself... but how can i act or what can i do to show people that im friendly and that im interested in making new friends. Sorry if this sounds strange... im just not used to it so it seems a bit difficult ! Thanks

"A lot of what socializing is is just laying back and being yourself. If you are too eager when meeting another person, this will drive them away. Its all about staying casual and calm. You don't have to go to a party and be the funny guy or try to hard, more observing whats going on, who you like/dislike and casually approaching someone you might want to talk to sticking to simple questions and small things. I would say having confidence at this level will help you feel better and better each time at a party"

That was some other guy's answer to another question found here http://malaysia.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071025210024AAUxYPB

It isn't my answer but I think it's good advice. Just be braver about saying hi and how are you. :)

You know everyone is different. You know some people are just naturally extroverts and and others are just naturally introverts. Ways to be more social is getting out there and letting people know you exist. Take the time to talk to more people. Go to more social events like football games or parties. Being yourself is very true. Once you open up and get more friendly around people they will see the real you and most likely become your friend. Just remember don't try to hard. People who try to hard to be noticed can be sometimes annoying and push people away. Hope this helps you.

Social skills is a two-way thing, remember. Don't only talk about yourself but take the time to ask about the other person as well. Oh, and remember the rules of proper etiquette. That seems to turn people off.
