Ox-eye daisy can grow year-round, and its lifespan is indeterminate. Maximum growth has been observed in coastal regions at onset of cool fall weather, through winter and spring, just before flowering stalks shoot up. Aerial growth dies back after seed release. Vegetative growth slows in summer during and after flowering (Cowell 1973).
Most Ox-eye daisy seeds remain viable for twenty years in the soil, and can remain viable after passing through digestive tracts of animals (Parsons 1992).

The perennial Ox-eye daisy & the common Bellis perennis has a long lifespan & can become invasive weeds.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellis_perennis The U. of California's website states Ox-eye daisy can become difficult to control or eradicate... often resprouting if not completely removed because it has stems that sprout laterally from a creeping rootstock.

The Gerbera Daisy is an annual species that thrives at about 24°C(75°F). In winter, temperature can safely be dropped down to 10°C(50°F). Plants are frost tender & must be grown at above +5ºC. Freezing of plants usually result in the death of the plant, so it will last only one season outdoors in colder zones.
Cut Gerbera flowers last up to 14 days in a vase, which is a week longer than some of the other daisies.

The daisy family is large and varied, the perennial shasta daisy is the favorite garden daisy, and it should live for years in a perennial garden. Th ox-eye or wild daisy has smaller flowers and is generally an annual, that reseeds and renews itself. I have not had any problem with my oxeye daisies becoming a nuisance. They bloom in summer. Shastas will generally rebloom if deadheaded. As cut flowers, they will last several days.
