Project help?

I need to do a project on an activity i could do with preschoolers and i am doing the activity with my class of college students.
Its on health and i am doing how germs spread and like how one person coughs or whatever on their hand and the germs go on there then they touch something or someones hand and how it spreads.
I just need to find something to use to be the "germs" something that will wash off easy and could be used with kids so like non-toxic and something that can be see for a demonstration.

Give each person a different colored object (like cotton balls). Then, have everyone get up and shake hands with people, and as they shake hands they must give each other a cotton ball. Give a certain time constraint like a minute or 1.5 minutes. Next, explain how everyone who has a pink cotton ball from sally has also contracted her germs and ther germs of people she has shaken hands with before.
Hopefully this helps! My teacher did it when I was in third grade and I have remembered ever since.
