Warm milk always helped me as a child

Routine works for me - have been an insomniac since I was a baby - didnt sleep through the night til I was 6 much to my parents disgust.

I find that following a routine means that I am more likely to fall asleep.

If I have anything on my mind I write it down and forget about it until the next day.

Using a lavender based bath foam helps too.

Listening to music does not work, nor does reading a book they just get my mind racing.

If I still can't sleep I get up and have a warm drink - tea, chocolate, etc.

Then I go back to bed - if I am not asleep by 4 am I get up and do the ironing, or cleaning.

Perversely sleeping pills generally end up making the problem worse rather than better.

Try not reading, watching TV or exercising for at least 1/2 an hour before bed, as these are all brain stimulants. Have a warm, non-caffeine drink and either put a few drops of lavender oil on the pillow or in the bath before retiring.

I used to have trouble getting to sleep as a teenager. It stopped around the time I turned 20.

Try testing how much sleep your body actually needs. You may think you need to get to bed at 10 when you're really fine going to sleep at 12. Exercise--jog or something every day. They say that if you do that, when bedtime comes around you're more than ready. And, like others said, read a book. Something really boring. Or something humorous but with no intellectual value whatsover, whatever that may be. This may help free your mind if you're thinking too much when you should be going to sleep. And of course, avoid caffeine after 6 pm. Or avoid it all the time, if you can manage that.

u live on a farm??? if not just get a picture of the net...
Counting sheep???
Just make sure you have a routine before bed ie. hot shower or glass of milk and maybe read a book or listen to some music for a while before putting your light out... Either that or stay at work for a few more hours until you feel tired...

Lavender is good for insomnia. You can buy a ring which sits on top the bulb of a bedside lamp. Lavender oil then evaporates from it and the aroma should help you sleep.

Have you tried writing down your thoughts before you go to bed? I keep a journal by my bedside to relieve myself of anything that might be bothering me. I also take a relaxing bath. Johnsons and Johnsons make a baby bath and stress reliever bath that work wonders.

Also, sleepytime tea and chamomile also help.
