Take Muni M and N train to Caltrain station.
Take Caltrain to San Jose Diridon
Take #17 bus to UCSC

HI,
First off make sure you do this first thing in the morning giving you plenty of time to make your way to San Jose.
You have to get to the Cal-Train Station. Right in front of SFSU, take the M downtown, once underground at Civic Center or Powell station transfer to the N this will get you to King and 3rd. This is the Cal-Train Station. Get your ticket to San Jose. The train ride is about 1-1/2 hours. Once in San Jose you'll have to take the bus to Santa Cruz, there might be a direct bus to UCSC. This is a ride over 17. This will take you about an hour by bus.
