Let's factor these first. 1) 4x (5x+6) 2) 3x (5x^2-6x-1) 3) -34x (x^2-3) 4) 17x (7x^2 - 12x - 1) Looks like the GCF is just x. However, when I look at everyone else, it seems you want the GCF of the terms in each individual one. If that is the case, then the answers are just 1) 4x 2) 3x 3) 34x (I would pull out a -34x here, to remove the negative from the x^2 term) 4) 17x

To get the greatest common factors of any numbers, break them down into their primes like this:
16 = 2 X 2 X 2 X 2
24 = 2 X 2 X 2 X 3
56 = 2 X 2 X 2 X 7
Now pick out only the primes that are common to each number. In this case, they are
2 X 2 X 2 = 8
8 is your greatest common factor.

56

2-2-2-7
What's common - Three 2's = 2x2x2 = 8
So GCF is 8
------------------
Now --- FYI ---- To get LCD for the three take
What's left, 2,3,7 = 42
and multiply by what is common = 8
= 336
16 into 336 = 21
24 into 336 = 14
56 into 336 = 6
Hope that helps!

YOu want the largest number that goes into each. In this case it is 8
16=2x2x2x2
24=2x2x2x3
56=2x2x2x7
each number has 2x2x2
