The only cool thing was the actual room where Lucy was shown. The rest was crap. Especially those Ethiopian trinkets they had on display.

I've seen it, and I enjoyed seeing the Ethiopian displays as well. Churches carved out of solid rock were fascinating. Interesting diorama about other hominid fossils, too. The lead up to Lucy was very well done. The only thing I could have done without was the continual repeat of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." I'm a huge Beatles fan, but after an hour of hearing it (either peripherally or directly) I'd had enough.

My wife and I went to see the display on October 20th. The entire display was well worth it. I would have actually felt a little ripped off it the entire thing was just Lucy.

EDIT: Before we start hearing comments about Houston being a wannabe NYC, Houston's Museum of Natural Science was the FIRST museum outside of Ethiopia that has shown Lucy. By the way, to "AJ / MizzHollywoof / ny" whatever else you call yourself, why not go and see it. You might just enjoy getting out. The sour grapes act gets old.

I wish I could make it at one of the stopping points of the tour. It would be interesting to see. Odds are, the skeleton won't be on tour again for a long time.

I tend to agree with you. I took my 8 year old and she wasn't very impressed, nor was I. Yeah, it's great that she came here first but was there any compitition for the exhibit??!

I can't even believe they would bring her to a place like Houston. The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago of course, but not wannabe-like-everyone-else Houston. I guess it all goes back to Houston trying to be like NYC, Chicago, California, etc.
