if tanning booth lamps also emit ultraviolet radiation, but the client's skin remains cool. Does the lack of heat produced by these lamps make this type of tanning any safer than sunbathing? why or why not?

Ultraviolet radiation is ionizing radiation whether it comes from the sun or lamps. Also, if your skin remains cool, is that because of a ventiliation provided by the salon?

I recently read a comic strip, "Yenny," in which Yenny goes to a tanning salon. The assistant reminds her to put on sun screen, to put a mask over her eyes, and to bind up her hair. She neglects to bind her hair, the wind in the tanning chamber blows her hair everywhere, and she winds up looking like a zebra.
