I was told on Friday November 9th that the no contact order was lifted by my boyfriends probation officer. My boyfriend was supposed to meet with his po to sign papers on it. I am unsure if he did or not and I am feeling he didn't because he has not yet contacted me. Would the local police department know if the no contact order was lifted? I was told that my boyfriend didn't sign any papers and I don't even think he visited with his po on friday. The po advised me that he was to meet with him that day. What can I do? Do I wait for him to call or should I try to contact him. I am anxious to speak with him it has been a month since the situation with us has happened. Thanks.

The prosecuting attorney is the one that lifted the order. Then my boyfriends probation officer called me to tell me that he would lift the provision of his release by allowing full contact again. But that my boyfriend had to appear at his po to sign the papers. I called the police department and they had no record of the no contact order being lifted. And because it was Veterans day I could not call the courthouse. I will try again tomorrow morning. I guess I am just over anxious to talk to him and would like to see this happen as soon as possible. I believe there may be reconciliation of our relationship but if this goes on too much longer I fear that time may encourage him not to fight. thank you for your responses they are greatly appreciated

I'm not sure what he was suppose to sign...

First off there are a few things that aren't right like a PO has no authority to a no contact order... they are authorized by judges. The other odd thing is that you said 'boyfriend' when no contact orders are for non-sexual relationships. Restraining orders are for more than friend relationships.

Anyways, to answer the question, the way to find out if it is still active is to either go to or call the clerk of court's office. That is where they are on file.. recorded.

And do NOT call him... that would be instigating.

Neither the police NOR the PO are a reliable source of information about this.

The *only* people who can lift a no-contact order are the court that imposed it in the first place. If you have the original no-contact order, with the case # on it, then you can call the clerk of the court and ask for the status.
