If two equal masses are suspended from either end of a string passing over a light pully?

what kind of motion do you expect to occur? Why? please help

The masses will either stay static or, if put into motion, will continue at a constant speed. The forces on the masses are balanced by the tension in the string with mg pulling down and an equal force pulling up. Forgetting about friction in the pulley and its mass, the motion is non-accelerated.
