The Mayans, Egyptians, and even Nostradamus have predicted a certain alignment in 2012, on December 21, 2012. This is the same date the Mayans' Long Count Calendar ends. It is difficult to explain, but a man has created a theory about a major change in the world that will occur because of this alignment (The Sun, Earth, and Center of the Galaxy). This theory is also backed by ACCURATE scientific data, and it's a bit scary.

The 'tons of predictions' which you speak about do not stem from the Mayans nor their calendar as Su and curmudgeon and monkeycow are misled to believe (especially monkeycow- you are apparently not 'studying' the Mayans at the library but from pseudowebsites- a huge difference).

the love doctor- the Mayan calendar mentions NOTHING about the return of Jesus.

skiracer712- the Mayan calendar mentions NOTHING about a 2036 asteroid.

DarrenS- the Mayan calendar mentions NOTHING about a polarity change. A proper study into Earth's polarity reversals will reveal that they are in no way linked to precession.

Joey- the alignment which you speak of is a common misunderstanding that misunderstood persons have used to twist reality. Because of precession, the Milky Way APPEARS to go up and down towards the horizon in relation to when the Sun rises. This is no different from stars and constellaations APPEARING to circle around in the sky. It is a VISUAL alignment of the Sun rising when the Milky Way is low on the horizon. It happens often. It IS NOT a physical alignment of the Sun Earth and galaxy. Let's look at your source: howtosurvive2012 is a website by Patrick Geryl. An author with no post high school education. He claims to get his information from a psychic channel Herodotus from ancient Greece. He plans on using his book profits to purchase 200ha land in South Africa which he calls a 'great holiday retirement place'. If you want to be a shareholder in it's construction of iron clad bunkers (sound familiar?) you will be able to rent the facilities for camping and hiking. This is Joey's 'accurate scientific data'. Does it sound like he plans on the world ending in 5 years or does it sound like he is trying to sell as many books as he can before 2012 so he can retire in luxury?

ivanm- lets see redtube: sexvideos- yep real mature.

divkagrrl- The Mayan calendar most certainly mentions NOTHING about Bin Laden nor the bird flu. I can't wait to see your four sources: 1)

They are made up from persons in the last five years to create fear among people like yourself who know little about the subject and are thereby easily misled into believing fiction as fact. It would be adviseable to be aware that not all sites on the internet are presenting truth. Take a closer look at your sources. A true study of 2012 would begin by John Major Jenkins books. After that, it will be more clear to you that all else presented is pure bunk.

No, you shouldn't worry about your credit. In fact, you should go out right now and buy the most expensive car you can. Next, go to bank of america and apply for a platinum card and max it out. Don't worry about paying it off because we will all be gone in 2012. Make sure to buy a couple of guns with the credit card in case that stuff about Ben Laden comes true.

Yes I am very concerned! And as for the guy who is worried about the bird flu and Bin Laden... don't you think things like these could be part of the 2012 predictions?

I don't know what we're in for, but I do strongly believe that something world-changing is going to happen. Hopefully I'm just paranoid.

Don't worry about 2012.Take one day at a time.Live life today and don't think about doomsday. There was a well know physcic-
(Sorry I can't spell today)that predicted in the 60's that the world was going to end then. She predicted the exact day and time and a lot of people believed it. I think her name was Jeannie Dickinson.Well.that prediction came to pass and we're still here.

No. Nothing to worry about with 2012.

The thing that you should be concerned about is that if Hillary Clinton wins the Presidential Election in November of 2008, the world as we know it will cease to exist.

I must be out of the loop, because I haven't heard that prediction yet. But I wouldn't worry. We're still here almost 8 years after Y2K right? He'll come back when he's ready.

Well Seeing the Mayan temples in Tulum In cancun i believe so. The calender and the remains of the city's point to the date December,2012. Only the Mayan have ever figured out about alignment and the sun they are true smart people considering they are one of the first civilastation. And in 2012 there will be a madntic cange in earth polarity.

the 2012 mayan end of the world is a misunderstood notion. it is the end of the last full cycle.

the mayans actually predict the end of the world in April 2036, which coincides with a potential asteroid collision with earth during the same month. I think NASA's potential crash day is like 5 days before the mayans said mankind would "disappear."
