Sims 2 Crashing?

i finished downloading some items i wanted for the game so i wanted to check it out. When i got to the start screen it said the application will now terminate. Is it the things i downloaded in the game? if so tell me how to fix it cause it kept doing this to me even when i try to restart it.

Take out all of the items you added to the game. See if the game works/loads then. If so, add your custom content back in, one by one (if it's not too many new items) or in small groups. When the game crashes again, you'll know which item it is (or could be - you can eliminate it that way).
