Two friends want to close their heavy door, but are too lazy to get up. They agree to throw an object at the door to close it. Ernie suggests throwing a 300 g lump of sticky clay at the door, but Bert argues that a 300 g tennis ball would work better if thrown at the same speed. Who is correct? Every action has an opposite reaction, so if the ball had bounced off at the same speed, it'd have exactly twice the effect. To bring either object to a stop, the door would absorb the same amount from either object, if they were thrown at the same speed and drag was not an issue. At the point when both are stopped and firmly up against the door, they have both exerted the same level of energy. To get the ball to bounce, that potential energy is reciprocated from the stored energy in the rubber of the ball, which pushes off from the door with the same amount of force.

If you've ever had to move something heavy, leaning on it will move it a little bit, but leaning into it and then shoving will move it more.

Of course, it won't have the same amount of force, since the ball will have it's own internal friction to deal with, but it will be close.

The clay adheres to the door (inertia stays with the door)

The ball rebounds (the door supplies equal and opposite force)

They exert same force on the door as they are of same mass and thrown at same speed.once they are thrown the only force acting on them is gravity which depens on mass and g.They act like projectiles goes horizontally due to horizontal velocity and move down gradually. due to gravity.Since same initial speed,their horizontal range will be same too and they hit the target with same force.

Teniss because it is bigger and it could hit harder, you know when you play it you feel the force while you hit the ball so it is stronger
