Only once, and that was enough, at 17, had the family station wagon, drove home with the speaker hanging on the broken window, didn't know it until my Dad came storming into the house about the speaker/window...didn't get the car again for one full month...trust me, all speakers were returned to their mounts from that point on. ! Peace and love

I was working at the drive in and i was only 16 and did not have my own car yet. My dad drove me to work and back and he loved the movies so much that he would come and watch the movie while he waited for me to be off work.
he was pretty tired after working all day and When I jumped into the car one night He started the car and drove off He was pretty drowsey that night. I said Dad..... He said I know I ripped another speaker off of the dam pole didn't I. I said yeah but tonight was different He asked why. I said because you ripped out the heater too. Good Wishes

Yes, once decades ago. Embarrassing, isn't it? Fortunately nothing broke on the car or the speaker. It's nothing like leaving the gas station with the gas cap off and $3.65 per gallon gas spilling all over the place. I thank some kind people in this small town for alerting me of this before I drove too far.

I've never done that but a few weeks ago, on a road trip, I stopped to get gas and directions. I put the pump in, started filling up my tank and went to ask for directions. When I got back, I started my car and took off. The gas pump was still attached to my car.
It unhooked but spread gasoline all over the place. The owner came out and reassured me it happens all the time. I was mortified. I was in such a hurry to get out of there, I completely missed the driveway and drove off the curb. They must of though I was a total idiot.

Yes, I think I still have a speaker somewhere that I snapped off when leaving. LOL And, I have driven away with the tray at the hot dog stand still on my rolled up window.

At the end of the movie, in the outdoor theaters, they showed a little cartoon about not driving away with the speaker attached to your car window. I don't think we ever did that. lol

we do not have anymore driveins where I live but growing up and all thru my teen yrs and dating age and then my early married with young children we would go to the drive-in. So many times we just left with the speaker still in the window. Then they switched to car radio speakers, when you tuned into a blank station, but by then the kids wanted drinks and constant food and bathroom walks and it got to complicated and expensive,so we watched TV. But thanks for the memories. My oldest son has a drive in in his state about 15 minutes from his home and he and his wife and their children go a lot in the summer months.

Yeah, we've started to, but caught it before it snapped off. Everyone kind of realized it's there at one time and started yelling at the driver, 'Stop!' lol
I loved going to the drive-in growing up, good memories.

I started to several times, but managed to stop just in time. Did it with the floor heater too. Never broke one though.
