As she was going through the wood, she met with a fox, who conned her out of 1/5 of cakes she was carring to her grandmother.

After that she met with a wolf, who demanded 1/4 of remaing cakes.

After that she met with a bear, who demanded 1/3 of remaing cakes.

1/2 of remaining cakes the girl ate herself, and delivered 1 cake to her grandmother.

How many cakes did her mother gave her in the beginning?

I say she had 5.

1/5 of 5 is 1. The fox took one, leaving her with 4.
1/4 of 4 is 1. The wolf took one, leaving her with 3.
1/3 of 3 is 1. The bear took one, leaving her with 2.
1/2 of 2 is 1. She ate one, leaving her grandmother with 1.

OK

Original Cakes = c

1/5c + 1/4(4/5c) + 1/3(3/4(4/5c) + 1/2(2/3(3/4(4/5)c + 1 = c
1/5c + 1/5c + 1/5c + 1/5c + 1 = c
4/5c + 1 = c
1 = (c - 4/5c)
1 = c (1-4/5)
1 = 1/5 c
c = 5

So she started with 5 cakes.

Proof

Start with 5. Give 1/5 to fox = 1 cake = Leaves 4
Start with 4 now. Give 1/4 to wolf = 1 cake = Leaves 3
Start with 3 now. GIve 1/3 to bear = 1 cakes = Leaves 2
Start with 2 now. Eats 1/2 = 1 cake = Leaves 1 for grandma.

Hope that helps.

120. Just work the problem backwards.

1*2*3*4*5 = 120
