Can I pick one that's my favorite band to hate from the 21st century?
I'd love to see 'MCR' perform at 'The Altamont Free Concert of December 1969'. Then I'd love to see The Hell's Angels beat the crap out of the little pansies! That would be a great show indeed!
I just can't seem to get this image of some big biker beating on Gerard Way with a chain, while his band mates stand there watching and screaming!
What a great question!

HaHa, good question. I'd pick Daft Punk, for both their music and their costumes. The end result would probably be like a cross between "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (or some 50's sci-fi B movie) and the bit in "Back to the Future" where he plays Jonnie B. Goode. I don't know if the people back then would dance or run for their lives. LOL!!
Sarah C:
Wowo indeed!! I can't believe my ears (or eyes, I guess). Jonas Brothers??!!?!?

Wowo, interesting!
I really want to see Opeth in the 60's. How would a progressive metal band go about in the 60s. That would be a tad bit interesting, seeing what reaction a border edge death metal band will bring about, and it would be interesting how they will do with the prog crowd. But they're not fully 21st century though.
EDIT: Hey.... I invented a new word... "wowo"
EDIT: "Wowo" Did Star just say that the Jonas Brothers are better than the Beatles?!?!? and that the Beatles are bad?!?!?
EDIT: Chunga... okay... *walks away a bit scared*

What a odd question.....
Definitely the White Stripes would fit perfectly in the late sixtes.
Mars Volta (while progressive rock) I think would have a hard time in the 70's
Franz Ferdinad will just be lost with all the countless New Wave/Post-Punk bands in the 80's
I feel most music today is just rehashing different styles from the past. (this is not necessarily a bad thing)

Social Distortion...oh wait, '78
Misfits...oops, '77
The Adicts...darn, '75
Then probably Tiger Army. They would have taken Country and Rock in whole new directions.
Honorable mentions to Matisyahu, Flogging Molly and Gogol Bordello. Maybe the blending of traditional musical styles would be a more prominent thing (which it should).

Mike Patton, I would love to hear him collaborate with all of the classics.
I feel Stereolab would fit will ... but is the idea to have them not fit?
Hmm. most bands im thinking of would fit ok. but maybe not Tool. Much too much technology, science, and thinking involved.
sarah- you couldnt have chosen a better time to invent the word "wowo". i am floored. I didnt think it was a joke, then i thought, well maybe, but no, this person is serious.

I'd have liked to see what Type O Negative would have been like back then.
