Teach your daughter how to zip the jacket herself. I have a 4 year old and she does it just fine after some practice. Then she won't have to ask the mean teacher for help.

Your question is very confusing. I am not sure if you are saying that your daughter is having trouble zipping up her jacket, in which case you could practice with her at home. If the problem is that the teacher is yelling at her about it, then maybe you should speak with the principal if you feel the teacher's behavior is inappropriate. If neither of those things are what you are asking, then I'm sorry...I can't help but I hope that things get better for your daughter.

Tell the teacher that you understand that she wants your daughter to learn, and that you will try to help by teaching your daughter to zip at home too. The let her know that your daughter is scared to ask for her help if she can't get it zipped, and that you are not happy with this. As the teacher of 4 year olds, she needs to be more patient and understanding and helpful. If nothing changes, go to the director and get her involved.

Even in the best of circumstances it is difficult for many four year olds to adjust to school or being away from her mother or a nanny.

Try to teach your daughter to zip her jacket Some jackets are more difficult than others. You will need to speak to the principal if the teacher is unyielding and unsympathetic.

First of all, I would buy a jacket for your little girl that has a big zipper pull and zipper teeth. That will make it easier for her little hands to learn to manipulate the zipper. I'd patiently have her practice when she is wearing the jacket. I would also tell the teacher that your daughter is practicing this. I might also point out that she is there to HELP the children learn. While your little girl is learning, you COULD always purchase a pull over jacket for her to wear in the meantime. If the teacher's attitude continues, I'd speak to her supervisor as soon as possible. Good luck to you.

Maybe as a mother, you can make the matter better by doing something yourself. Teach your daughter how to zip and unzip her jacket . Is that too much to ask? Then maybe she will not be afraid of the teacher. Don't make excuses for the daughter for things you should teach your children yourself. It is your job to bring up your children, not the schools.

Teach her how to zip her jacket. If she can't get it started, tell her to unzip it almost all the way and then take it off like a t-shirt. Try it this weekend. Make it a game. Buy a baby jacket for a doll of hers. Have her zip up dolly when you go out.

Is this a private school. If so, ask to be moved to another class.

If public, you should talk with the director and if necessary, have a parent/teacher/director conf. to discuss the issues and see what can be done.

The child shouldn't be afraid. However, your child also needs to learn to deal with this type of thing. As a parent with 3 kids that are now in 1st to college, these type of problem will not be the only one. Can you teach your child to zipper up? Think about it from the teachers point, if there are 20 kids that need to be zipped or have their shoes tied, or taken to the bathroom, when will they teach.

have your daughter practice at home zipping up her jacket. it's all in learning or is it the asking that your daughter is having problems with. If it's that they pay a game of role playing with your daughter when she's at home. I did it with my daughter when she was little. it works. She thought that teachers would yell at her to asking questions.
