We have just had Rememberance Sunday, paying respect for all those who fought and died defending our shores from the Nazi scum from Germany from 1939 to 1945. Before 1939 we had our own Nazi's in England called the 'British Union of Facists' under Oswald Mosley. In the 1930's Mosley and his followers ranted the same bile about Jews ('taking over'), that some on here are now ranting about Asians and Blacks ('taking over') (see some of the questions here on YA). In 1940 we locked Moseley and his gang of Nazi's up while we defeated Hitler and his scum. Now in 2007 (and the day after Rememberance Sunday) some on here are giving people with the same views as Moseley the 'thumbs up' - our brave men and women who fought Hitler must be turning in their graves.

Think very hard before you agree with these people - think very hard it does not take much for history to repeat itself.

Chris - I was not going to comment on peoples answers to this question, but I need to clarify something with you. I did not say that I am against Immiration control. Every national on earth has immigration control, though that is a whole topic in itself, I'm talking pacifically about racism ie picking out and targetting immigrants on the grounds of race (ie who tonight mentions Australians, Americans, western Europeans immigrants) the comments tonight were racist. If you want to ask a purely immigration control question then please do so.

Tabbyfur - I know that we differ srongly on another subject . That said I respect your answer which is well put, but I feel slightly misguided but thats not your fault thats a government issue. Basically we are a nation of inequality of wealth distribution (as indeed are others in the western world) those including you and me with moderate wealth maintain it by immigrating cheap labour. This has been the case since WW2 except no government is going to admit it as its a hot potato. But that was not my point with this question, that is for a different question ie "why the UK needs cheap labour immigration". Once again I respect your support re racism.

Ignorance is one of the reasons why so many people get a lot of thumbs up with q&a's regarding racism & immigration. They haven't got a clue about the actual policies of political parties such as the BNP. I'm sure any who thumbed up answers about Moseley don't even know who he is.

My grandfather died during the second world war. His ship was torpedo on the 28th December 1942. A total of 9 ships were torpedo in two 1/2 hours. The u boat was U-225 and the time estimated at 20:02 My grandfather was 32 years of age. Each year I go to a remberance service and I give thanks to every man and woman who saved our little island.

BUT.......... I still feel like a second class citizen in my own country. The country that I pay my taxes to and pay full for everything. I do not qualify for any benefits or discount on my council tax as I work full time, I'm married and I own my own home. Where I live we are over weighed with immigrants & asylum seekers. There is a huge difference between the two. The immigrants can work and pay their taxes like the rest of us but the Asylum seekers can't and rely on state handouts. They are housed and some in better accomdation than UK nationals that own their own homes. Some Asylum seekers are clued up and know what they are entitled to and they demand it. The receive instand health care & dental care in some areas.

Secondly, As a country we have to accept that we are a multi cultural island. We can't all have the same beliefs, faiths & followings. If we are to live side by side happily in each others company then we should accept each others celebrations & festivals for what ever religious event. The main problem is that councils want to be seen as being PC. They can't run the risk of being accused of not being seen as that. They do the most damage. Instead of going out and asking people of different ethnic background of their views are of certian festivals they make stupid rules and anger people.

I spit on the BNP or on anyone who agrees with their policies but something has to change for the better in this country. I don't know what the solution is but things are turning ugly and it will only get worse.

A brave question pdr and very thought provoking.

It's a very controversial subject that easily knock some 'time bombs' over the edge but I will speak as I truly feel regardless of recrimination.

I see that there are two kinds of people, good and bad, there are fence sitters and those who will stand up and be counted. I feel generally that people mix immigration up with racism and then the trouble begins, sheep, listening and copying other ignorant comments. A fool may rush in but a wise man will consider.

I have no problem with any race and would be ashamed if anyone considered me to be racist, there will always be cultural differences but they can be advantageous in some ways, as I think the Western world has had things too easy. I also think identity is important, as in what your Country stands for etc but most importantly within yourself.

I think also there is a new age of fear in the air because of the threat of terrorism, which again is being mixed in with racism.

Most prefer to live and let live but when it goes wrong is when what is deemed as right is wrong.

At the end of the day we are all humans regardless of what we look like and as long as we respect each other, there should be no difference when we look in the mirror...

I totally agre with what you say, the issue people have with other races seems to start off as immigration and end in blatent racism.
All that you say about migrants from western europe, america, NZ, Oz is al right, this doesnt matter to people, even tho the migrant workers are working hard as well.
I dont believe in Racism and I know that seems like an odd thing to say but I dont understand it at all, how can you discriminate against someone on the simple basis of the colour of their skin or their country of origin!
I think its ridiculous and people who are racist are small minded scum bags really!
I dont think we're quite down the Nazi route just yet, I think we have a lot of people who dont agree with it but your right it is a worry!
People are ignorant and if we can change that hopefully we'll get somewhere

I agree with what you have written in fact I was in London over the weekend and was very sorry to see with such a cosmopolitan population now living here I never saw anyone of the people that have made their homes here actually wearing a poppy, to my mind remembrance Sunday is for all people that died in past and present conflicts whatever beliefs the individual may have.
It is a fact that had Hitler won the war the doors of this country would not of been able to welcome all the religions and races to these shores unless they had Aryan looks.

I think there are racist on all sides we should start by respecting each other as human beings and forget about religion and colour. We all have a long road ahead.

Look Petal, its all good for you to take the moral high ground, maybe it makes you feel liberal and good about being politicaly correct. But stop being so naive and see the country for what it is becoming, its not a case of being racist but a case of standing up and not letting stupid little ignorant girls like yourself ruin this country. The influx of foreigners is damaging the country right to the core, and one day your kids will have to pay for the mistake Labour is making in letting them infest our country, take our jobs, our houses, doctors, our livelyhood.... But keep the moral highground and dont pop that bubble that you float around in.. BNP for ME!! Save England

Not everyone is an out and out fascist. Our Grandfathers did not fight in the 2nd world war to save our country from the likes of Hitler, just so that 60 years down the line we face an even bigger threat from within our own country. The threat being in the form of suicide bombers and the knife and gun culture that has sprung up on our streets. Hardly a day goes by at the moment without a child being murdered ,or even as reported last week, a13 year old charged with the murder of a fully grown man. Most people want to get on with their own lives and live in peace, without being browbeaten into accepting that multi-culturalism is the best thing that ever happened to us. It isn't. All that is happening at the moment is that people are being forced into accepting a society they never wanted in the first place, this is breeding mass resentment, not amongst hardened fascists, but with ordinary, decent people who are seeing their culture and way of life changing beyond all recognition.

By all means remember their sacrifice.

Just a big shame there are still troops fighting, people dying and on and on it goes.

Remembering would be good if it stopped war altogether.

Racism is the same as war, it leads to war & imprisons each side.

i am not against the immigrants coming to our country what i am against is i live in a small town and we are over run by them also the lads that worked on the land have been laid off why because the immigrants will work for less plus the repacking factories my daughter had to move 50 miles away to find a house to rent this is what is happening and up setting people all so our schools and doctors and hospital is not getting enough money from the government for them

What they are spouting about is exactly what happened in 1930s Germany. The BNP use the same paranoia to post propaganda about immigration and how it is supposedly detrimental to our society.

Two World Wars were fought for our freedom and so that people would not live in an oppressive society and for racists to turn around and say that they fought so that Britain to stay white makes me sick.

It scares me to think that Britain is turning into 1930s Germany
