(sorry, this is kinda gross) I want to take a pregnancy test using first morning urine. I need to go out for the test after I use the bathroom. How should I "preserve" the urine? In the refridgerator? Will this affect the HCG levels? Please only serious answers. Thanks!

I'm about to take a test too. Buy two tests and take one after you get back from buying it and take the other the next morning. I don't know how putting it in the refrigerator would affect it but i would advise against it. It may work it may not. Good luck.....

Take it tomorrow, with the 2nd urine of the morning. You should take the test immediately, with fresh urine. You should hold your pee for 3-4 hours before testing, at any time of the day, so if you are certain you want to test today, hold your pee and test this afternoon.
I've never heard of effects with preserved or refridgerated urine. It's best to just take the test tomorrow if you don't have one today.
Besides, there is no point in saving urine. The urine from later in the day (or the next day) has more pregnancy hormone than earlier in the day. You are more likely to get an accurate result by using the freshest urine.

The best thing would be to buy the test, so the result would be the most accurate.
If you however absolutely need to preserve the urine, make sure you keep it in a clean container with a lid, and put it in the refrigerator. You shouldn't use it after more than a few hours though!
I would buy a 2pack, so if you get an unclear result then you can retest the next morning.

You should definitely have the test before you pee because it works better when it flows on the strip. But if you really want to save the urine, I guess you should keep it at room temperature.
If I were you, in the second scenario, I would buy a set of two tests, try the test on the urine you saved. If it shows positive, I'd trust it. If negative, try again the regular way.

Are you taking the test at home? If so I think you should have the test BEFORE you collect the morning urine. If you are using the test strips you just pee in the cup ... and put the test strip in the cup right away. I don't think its a good idea to collect the urine and then test later ... its possible it may effect the sample itself.

Just buy the test the day before and use your first morning urine the next day...it's always better to just use the fresh stuff...

most test you do not even need the first morning urine i would go and get an early responce pregnancy test. Good luck

to get the BEST answer i would have the test already when you take the test. But if you are preganant any urine will work!

If you hold your pee for about 4 hours without drinking any fluids or eating, it should be concentrated enough to give accurate pregnancy test results.
