The first thing you need to do is rela-a-a-ax. If you're not all tensed up, the shots won't be as painful.
Take a deep breath, and find something else to hold your attention. I usually stare up at a corner in the ceiling, and my mother swears by trying to wiggle her left big toe.
Good luck!

Just remember the shot is necessary (I'm assuming) also remember it will be over in a matter of minutes! I'm an insulin dependent diabetic who takes 4 shots per day. You can get thru this! Take Care and best of luck!

Hon , getting shots these days is a piece of cake compared to when I was a kid. They use a new needle every time and they are so sharp, you can barely feel it going in. When I was a kid they used to use them ,sterilize them and use them over and over. They were so dull it felt like getting a nail instead of a needle. Heck , I hurt myself worse with pins when I'm sewing . Just turn your head away , take a deep breath and you will be done.

I used to have the same problem... but f you make plans for after your blood being drawn, you think to yourself "I can't let _______ down!" and you go through with it. Another is counting in your head, and staring at the clock, sing a song, think of cupcakes, think of a relationship and people who you like and that make you smile, or think of something that was hilarious and you'lll smile. Anything of your favorite... think of.
Good luck!

I have to get blood drawn (with bad veins yet!) so I just go as limp / relaxed as possible and think of happy places and good thoughts.
